Based on scientific literature and online journalism, the article identifies theoretical practical problems of formation development mentoring. It is revealed that dilemmas are caused by confusion in conceptual apparatus specified direction researches. The operationalization terminology conducted semantic analysis a number definitions synonymous with mentoring: mentoring, coaching, tutoring allowed to formulate characteristics mentoring as separate complementary category.
